Forgot to end your Parking.SG session again? Singapore is testing a much smoother way to pay for roadside parking using your ERP 2.0 On-Board Unit (OBU)! A pilot trial is underway across 644 designated roadside carparks in Singapore, testing direct roadside parking payments using the new ERP 2.0 On-Board Unit (OBU) touchscreen display.
Here is how the new system works for private car owners:
1. Starting a Session: Just tap the "P" icon on your OBU touchscreen, or tap the prompt that appears as soon as you turn off your engine.
2. Automatic Checkout: No need to manually stop your session! The OBU detects when you drive away, automatically ends the session, and deducts the fee via your CEPAS card or backend payment account.
3. OBU Only: This feature requires the physical OBU touchscreen display (not available on smartphone-only ERP apps).
4. Backup Option: The Parking.SG app isn't going anywhere—you can still use it anytime, especially if your screen turns off before you start a session.
With physical ERP gantries slowly being phased out, your OBU display is set to make parking and driving much easier!
